Been to New Mexico?

Iv'e been thinking about taking a trip down to New Mexico to see the "VLA" Very Large Array. It's 27 radio telescopes near Socorro NM. I see by the website that the Trinity site is only two hours away. Anyone been there??

Just FYI...Be careful!

New Mexico has a very high incidence of DWI, perhaps the highest in the nation. A significant number of drivers there do not have licenses or insurance.

We once had a house in Taos, during which time we avoided driving at night, and took every precaution possible when driving during the day.

Take a ride through the western mountains of New Mexico. Some very nice canyons. I love living in New Mexico. Too bad work takes me away for the bulk of the year.

Dan, I've been to both sites. Well worth the trip, but the Trinity site is
only open twice a year the first saturday in April and the first saturday
of october. Great riding in the area especially 152 from caballo to Silver city. Have fun.

Yea, I was planning on being there on the first of April. They have guided tours of each site on that same day. The weather should be pretty good by then also. I haven't been riding for a couple of days now because of the snow here in Colorado. It's killing me!!!

Riding down around Ruidoso should be good that time of year. Go to Lincoln and see where Billy the Kid escaped from jail. Pretty far south of where you want to go though....

they may do this ride again and you'd be welcome to join in. if not, post your intentions when you get closer. i'm sure you'll get some riding companions no matter where you go.

there are great rides/roads here. being the fifth largest state in area and comprising of only 1.8 million people statewide, you can rest assured that you'll find great rides with little or no traffic (outside of the 'big' cities).

1mph mentions silver city. if you get there, the 'ghost' town of pinos altos is a must. enjoy. mj
