Kisan Signal Minder SM-5
I'm new to 1150 R and have purchased a SignelMinder. I do not have a shop manual so I do not know where to install it. The SignalMinder instructions are a little lacking. Thanks.
You really don't need a shop manual. The SM replaces the existing stock signal unit, located in the plastic junction box under the seat. It's truly a plug-n-play replacement - the only real work you need to do is to tap into the brake line wire to enable the brake interruption function (optional, but very useful). There are illustrated instructions posted somewhere on this board - I think I have a link and will try to find it. In the meanwhile, try a search.
There is one slightly tricky partto the install, figuring outhow to work the ratcheting latch to disconnect/connect the flash unit (it's easy but not intuative).

Thanks for the help. I put it in tonight and it seems to be working fine.

308, if you have any trouble, PM me an email address. A member here (sweatmark!) sent me an email loaded with instructions and detailed pics a few years ago ago when I bought mine.
I can forward that email to you if you need it.

Freedom is dangerous. Those in power that steal freedom are more dangerous.

Yes, on about 3 different selectable time delays. It will also burn all four turn signals on 2 different intensity levels.
It's a drop in replacement for one of the modules in the fuse box under the seat. Usually around $100. The model number for the "newer" silver cased ones that fit our R bikes is SM-5. There's a lead coming out of the module that you can connect to your brake light that stops the timer while your brake is engaged, so it doesn't timeout and stop your blinker while you're sitting at a long traffic light. From the discussions, the install can be fiddly, requiring insertion/removal from the bottom of the fuse panel. The other common question revolves around identifying the wire to tap for the brake signal feed. I think it is the gray wire with yellow stripe in the bundle running under the fuse box.
Someday I'm going to put one on my bike.

The rear left turn signal on my R has slowly been diming over time
while on running lights mode. Funny thing is when it flashes; it is
as strong as all the others. I would guess it is a glitch in the SM5
puter..... Has it happened to any one here??? Is there a cure?
