Another hot December down under.

Post by DJ Downunder »

Note...Sorry I've had to delete some of my pics to make way for more...DJ

Not much of a great ride but I was out cruising today on a real stinker in Melbourne...and took some pics.

This caught my eye...I've been past it many times and not noticed it...looks a bit like the Battle of Britain vs Jason and the Argonauts.

Café Racer is THE place to be on a sunny Sunday morning...
$10,000 bicycles hang on the bike rack out the front and $50,000 Ducati's line up along the street in front...
mid week and mid morning gets just a BMW and a scooter..and a few bicycles.

Image

Across the road from Café Racer is Point Ormond.

Image

The top of Point Ormond looking south.

Image

Now looking north toward the city.

Image

Next to Point Ormond is St Kilda marina..and boats stacked three high.

Image

Just up the road is another type of boat...the St Kilda surf boat..and the Palais theater across the road.

Image

The Palais thearter...ever wondered what happened to the Doobie Brothers.. :D ...I saw Chris Isaak here last year...it's a great venue.

Image

Next to the Palais is Luna Park...and this time of year it's going off..(school holidays)

Image

Image

Not much of a roller coaster in US standards but it's all we've got.

Image

Across from Luna Park is another cool place to eat..Greasy Joe's.

Image

The swim wear shops were full of beautiful girls..no pics sorry...here's a little dog.. :D

Image

Now for St Kilda beach...on the weekend you'd be lucky to find a clear piece of sand to put your towel.

Image

Image

Image

This is the place to be in two days time on new years eve...this place will be going off big time...
they were setting up a stage on the beach right in front for the bands to play on...
there will be fire works going off and bikini girls every where..I won't know where to look.. :D

Image

Image

We're expecting 38C on new years eve...( that's about 100F ).....that's hot..hot...HOT!!!

Hot alright! It got to 39C today and tomorrow has been amended to 42C  . That's just shy of 108F

Total Fire Ban across the state so maybe NO fireworks for us this year at all. I wonder what the fire brigade will have to say?

That snaky statue is pretty cool, as is the beach. I'm taking off for the beach myself tomorrow. Not 100 degrees, but its all good anyway.

Just two hours sun baking and swimming and I feel burnt to a crisp.. :(

The stage is all ready to go on the beach outside the 'Stoke House' St Kilda.

Thank God for mesh jackets...phew!...and so glad I have no screen.. :D

Yes..new Perelli's...great tires.. :smt023

Here's how I escape the heat...a friend took this of me yesterday...I had to make myself fall in every now and then just to cool down.. :D

It's not very often we get to sail without a wetsuit...even in Summer.

Great pics DJ. Gotta go show my girls these pics, especially the ones of Luna Park - they had a great great time there and that roller coaster was a good one to start them off with. :D
