A German MC magazine (Motorad) last year tested 8 different aftermarket exhaust systems for the R1150R.
None made more power than the stock system.
Most made less.
Do you have access to that article again. It would be great to read. Which ones were noted as not loosing power and vise versa?

I don't know about you, but I can pick my front wheel up about 3 feet with nothing but throttle (Power Wheelie) in second gear at 3K rpms and carry it all the way into 3rd. I'd like to see a stock R try that! Those German's from Motorad were hitting the crack pipe if they were looking only at max power. My bike makes much more power at lower RPM's with the aftermarket pipes (Laser), K&N, cut snorkle, and Techlusion. The difference is literally night and day. If you think a stock bike is as good as the R can get, or that max power is the end all rating, you are the one who is delusional my friend...

The cut snorkle maximizes air flow into the airbox. If you look at the stock snorkle, the opening is relatively small. Now imagine it cut at a downward angle to maximize the opening size. Cyclerob has some pictures available. I can't take credit, since I got the idea from him. In all honesty, I don't know how restrictive the stock snorkel is on the R, but I didn't want to take chances that it might be a choke point on the intake. I know they make larger carbon fiber snorkels that they sell at a BIG premium, so I figured, why not go for the same effect at no additional cost except my time to perform the mod. One definite thing you will notice if you do the mod is a slight increse in intake snarl on heavy acceleration. It sounds like it's growling at the intake and it gets even meaner when it comes out the exhaust . I never was a pure "sound" guy before the mods, and I'm definitely not a "loud pipes" guy, but I'll be damned if this isn't the way the boxer is supposed to sound.
I have a Remus collector (no Cat), Revolution end can, BB Chip (http://www.bbpower.de) and RS air intake tubes and although I have not put the bike on a dyno, can confidently say its smoother, quicker and has more torque than before. In a word it ROCKS
However, it does seem to use a more gas than before but that may be due to me exploring the performance envelope a little.
just ordered a remus titanium system for my 04 rocker. will i get horsepwer or torque gains? maybe a little. but who cares. i have plenty of power for riding and for parking lot racing since you can only use first gear. and if you ever heard the bobster or another revolution system, you would have to agree with a previous poster that this is how the rockster is supposed to sound! maybe i have more money than sense to some people, but i spend my money on what makes me happy. period. and that sound made me very happy!
BTW, when you guys were mentioning cleaning the pipes and waiting before firng it up, does this apply to titanium cans also?
