National Cycle Storage Pod Question

Anyone tried National Cycle's Storage Pod? From the photos, it reminds me of the same material my Oakley sunglass case or Nelson Rigg's Saddle Bags are made out of.

I've got System Cases but I'd like something like this for local rides when I won't experience a hardship by not dragging raingear, Widder vert, spare gloves, spare socks, air compressor, clear shield, etc that are normally packed in my cases. There are really only a few things that I always - my wallet, cell phone, Palm T3 PDA, and off duty handgun. But, I don't want this junk all jammed into my pockets - it's unsafe if nothing else. I know the Storage Pod offers no security whatsoever so it would just be for use while I'm on the motorcycle. I'd at least take my Palm and wallet with me.

Any suggestions where to buy this thing? Seems pricy at $130 from National Cycle. $75 would be OK I guess.

Bud, you might also try Tourmaster or Cortech gear. This Cortech tailbag seems like it also might do the trick, and it has a handle on it as well.

I have the teeny weeny Cortech tank bag and it seems very well made. Givi also makes very good soft tankbags and tailbags.

Thanks Tony! The Cortech does look sharp. It holds 16 liters though. The Storage Pod holds only 4 liters. I already have an excellent bag from T-bags for camping trips and stuff.

I like that bag. I've seen holsters and the like made out of that stuff and it's really durable. My only con on it is the price. $130 is a little spendy for a thing like that. You can buy the Wonderlich tail bag for that much.

One of the service writers at Bobs BMW has that on his 1100S. He LOVES it. Looks sharp and expands to hold pretty much whatever he needs to put in it.

Bud,

Here's a pic of the Cortech bag. I've been using it for about 2 years when I don't have the bags mounted. It sits perfectly on the rear "plate" that replaces the passenger seat.

Thanks for the photo. That is a neat looking bag. My problem is that I tend to fill stuff to 110% of its capacity (Yes, I am a pack rat!). It's the fact that the $torage Pod holds just 4 liters that attracted me. I might also consider the Coretech for longer trips though. This $torage Pod gizmo like I said is just for local riding where I just need a place to stash my gun, wallet, phone and Palm PDA. I could fit much of that under my fuel tank except that my iRiver MP3 player lives there. Although I might have to, I didn't want to spend $130 on it - I just don't see why it costs so much. Guess when you make the only one available in a certain size, you can name your price. I was hoping someone could steer me toward the best price on the $torage Pod.

Also take a look at the SW-Motech tank bag. It is relativly small and make of that same semi-rigid stuff. It has just the slickest clip on attachment that prevents any contact with the paint and the bag has a nice carrying handle.

Bud, don't you think it would be unsafe to keep your gun back there ? So if a situation comes up, you need to shoot the cell phone out of someone's hand, you have to twist around in back to get it out. Wouldn't Marsee's little tank pod be better ?

I was waiting for someone to tell him he's crazy for carrying a gun on his bike. But I guess it's only crazy in my neck o' the woods.

Say what you will about NY, but I bet you're far more likely to get a cap in your behind somewhere in the 'sticks' then in our area.

my wife got me a nice little bag from pirate's lair that clips onto the tank and is big enough for your wallet, keys, gun, etc. it replaces 2 screws in the fuel cap assem. with clips. just make sure to unclip from inside before removing it!
