Autumn ride down under.

Post by DJ Downunder »

While you guys in the states are enjoying your Spring and looking forward to Summer here in Oz we are in Autumn and Winter is just around the corner.

Today I thought I would make the most of a day off work and go for a ride up the hills...and stop at a few bike shops along the way.

I'm not sure if it was the orange leaves or not but I was thinking about poping into my local KTM dealer and checking out the latest orange machines.

Image

They had heaps of new bikes...orange everywhere.

Image

The one that caught my eye was not orange but black...a beautiful black 525 Motard.

Image

I was wishing I was 5 yrs old when I saw the little 50cc mini bikes...when I was a kid my home made mini bike had a lawn mower engine.

Image

Image

I'm back on the road heading up the hills just out of Melbourne...it was warm and sunny....there were leaves everywhere...and the best twisty roads.

I caught up with a guy on a new black Yamaha MT-01...was rode together for a while...his bike sounded great..those rear pipes are HUGE!

We stopped to check out each others bikes...then he was off before I could get a pic of his bike.

My next stop was at this 'oil on road warning sign'..they had put sand along the edge of the road where the oil spill was....nice.

More roadside pics.

The road turned to dirt just before getting to the top...no probs for the RR.

Image

Here I am at the top..at a nice lookout point.

Image

Image

There were lots of these little purple wildflowers...and thought I'd test the macro setting on my camera.

Image

Image

My last stop was for a bite to eat...that Devonshire tea sign got me in.

Image

My faverite...Scones jam, cream and a nice cold coke to wash it down.

Image

Cheers guys..hope you enjoy my pictures...and were the scones good?......what do you think.. :D

You're still killing me DJ and now you're eating scones in front of me.
Man they look delicious. They also look good on your upper lip. :)

I look forward to your reports and pics. This one was great too. The scone looked delicious, but doesn't look like the scones we get here. Now I need a recipe for Australian scones and that thick cream.

Thanks for the report and pictures.

DJ always provides a snack for us. And it's usually right about the time I am hungry from the pics. How does he do that?

I love it.

What side of the road does one ride on down under?

DJ,
Have you ever thought of hosting your own website with all your rides pics?
