Upgarde cam chain tensioner installed still ticking ???HELP
I own 2004 R 1150R with less then 1400 miles, left cylinder ticking when engine warm, I've try adjust Valve, Valve cleaner, fuel, even installed upgrade cam chain tensioner, but still ticking. any suggestions ????? If timing chain problems, need instructions help.
Sorry, but they really do.
The cam chain tensioner was obviously not your ticking culprit.
The valves tick. The rocker arms tick. Other things in an engine tick as well.
The heads of the oilhead engine stick out in the air and any engine ticking noises are more evident than on bikes that have the engine configured underneath the bike.
For your peace of mind, take it to your dealer and have the mechanic have a listen. It's still under warranty.

Nobody is sure perfect, but she practiced tirelessly !
I had this same problem and I knew it wasnt normal(even left side). I was very persistant with a dealer and they kept telling me it was bad gas, needed valve adjustment it was normal, you name it they said it. I still knew this wasnt right, I do understand ticking and the noise of our bikes, but this was not normal. I switched dealers and the new dealer listened to it and right away said yes there was a problem. I went back 3 times until they got the problem fixed. They were very nice and continued to work with it under warranty. Turned out there was a burr somewhere that did not allow complete tightening. They found this after talking to some big wig at BMW who said it had happened a few times before. Over 6k now and no problems. My problems started right from new and we kept trying valve adjustments. I only hope your dealer will be like the new dealer I am dealing with. I can only say be persistant before the ticking drives you mad.
My BMW dealer sux :(
I've bring my R1150R back to dealer twice about that ticking noise, then this what dealer manager John said to me; WILL.... PLEASE DON'T BRING YOUR BIKE TO OUR SHOP ANY MORE, WE'RE NOT GOING TO TAKE CARE OF YOU PROBLEMS, BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T PURCHASE THE BIKE FROM US, SO YOU'RE NOT MY PRIORITY, EVEN UNDER WARRANTY REPAIR. I made a complaint to the BMW, and this is what BMW told me; THERE'S NO THING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT, BETWEEN DEALER AND CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP. I'm in ATLANTA area. THE DEALER NAME BLUE M... CYCLES. My first BMW, and will be my last BMW.

That is your problem Blue Moon is that way. John is not the dealer manager, he is the owner. You don't have to ditch BMW to ditch Blue Moon and their attitude. Just go see BMW Motorcycles of Atlanta in Marietta. They will treat you like a hoomin' bean.rl wrote:THE DEALER NAME BLUE M... CYCLES. My first BMW, and will be my last BMW.![]()
I bought my bike used from a guy in Alabama. I always do my own work. Well, the other day, I made an ignorant mistake and couldn't figure it out. They helped me out with it even though they were booking appointments four weeks out because I had a vacation ride planned to start that day. Never asked me where I bought it. Didn't seem to care.
