Loud crack...am I just to eager to get going?

Post by marousek »

Sorry about the barrage of questions for the board. I very much appreciate everyone helping me get up to speed on my beloved ride.

Yesterday took a short ride and stopped at Autozone. When I was leaving I got on and pushed the started. THe bike came on perfect, but as soon as it started there was a loud crack from the motor (kind of metal on metal snap). It did it again later that night once.

Am I just holding the starter buttom for too long? I didn't think I was....but just checking if anyone has seen this happen due to another issue I should check into.

Thanks!

Mine does it every now and then...I don't think it's anything to worry about.

I've heard that sound 3 or 4 times aswell. The thing still run smooth as butter though. There must be reasonable explanation for it.

Heard it too. Usually when the engine is still warm from previous rides.
