Another Aussie Onboard!

Post by Damo »

After being an occasional visitor for 12 months, I am a little more settled (was travelling abroad for 6mths) and feel it is time I made an attempt to contribute to this outstanding board. In fact, I purchased my 80 Ed Rockster (ex-demo from Southbank with 8000 kms) before my travels, and I'm sure it was regular reading from internet cafes which kept my new love alive!

I'm enjoying my bike more than ever, and happy to see this site growing and evolving. Great to see many Aussies such as DJ giving down under a good name. A special thanks to Keith Haynes for the wheelcap - I recommend everyone from this board check them out, as for such a small cost it really finishes off the look of the rear wheel.

Anyhow, here I am, love it or shove it!

Welcome Damo. Good to see another Aussie getting onto this great site.
I stumbled onto it doing a search on Yahoo for R1150R info, and it has payed dividends allready for me.
I bought my Sargent seats off this site, and have gained a lot of usefull info. Allround happy. :D

I can feel the weight of the board shifting south and west (from the real center of the universe).

G'day Damo,

Well it's been a very long time since I posted on the board, but I just bought another 1150R (my third), so I'm back. I got a demonstrator, also from Southbank. I think that's the last of their stock.

See ya round

Maybe we need to have a run one weekend. Halls Gap sounds like a good location.(suits me anyway). About half way for all of us.

Bash

Post by MIXR »

It's been mentioned a few times, but never eventuated. Maybe it's time. Somewhere central, like Alice Springs!

Welcome Damo - I'm up Canberra way if you are travelling.

My R was supposed to be long gone by now, but some car changes with my Suby and the missus' new Mazda forced me into keeping it. I'm now preparing for another long trip with it.

Cheers, Mick

Damo,

Welcome to the board. I am in Queensland so we are all spread across Australia. I got onto the board before I ordered my R in late 2004 and it helped with the decision. The board is a great source of information and a real bunch of helpful guys who share experiences and a few funny stories and interesting pictures. (I would post some if I could work out how)

I also bought one of the Keith Haynes wheelcap. He is a gentleman to deal with and the cap is a real "must have" for looks and keeping rubbish out of the space between the wheel and the hub.

Good to see another member board member in Oz. After 4 years on my R1150R and monitoring the ABS and kill/key debate on this board, I think I'm still the only regular lurker in Sydney!

Only 2 weeks left before I commence the trip down from Sydney to Phillip Island through the Snowy River region with 14 lunatics on sports bikes. Then it's 2 days sitting in the corporate hospitality tent ON THE PIT ROOF to see Casey Stoner deliver his first MOTOGP victory !!!

Alice Springs sounds like a great place for a meeting. All Aussies know that it's the town most central to every Australian beach. DJ can bring his surfboard.

Thanks guys for the warm welcome! As I said, lots of great Aussies! Not to ignore all the members from the other side - I've visited the USA a couple of times and hope to get back again some day as I had a blast.

Just to clear up one thing, although I bought my bike at Southbank, I have since moved north to sunny BrisVegas.

MOTOGP from the pit roof sounds pretty hard to take. Not very jealous.

A meeting is the go alright, the weather over the last couple of weeks really sets the mood for doing a few miles.
