My tire got screwed

Ok need some advice. I am very low on cash, but my 12k tune up came up and i needed new tires too... so i dropped about 350 on new tires, got home and parked the bike right after the service... went out for a ride sunday and picked up a screw.... so i used the road side repair kit to plug the hole. The patch worked great rode from the moutains to reno then back to sacramento and it held the air just fine. The dealer is saying that i have to replace the tire, even though the screw went in near the center of the tire.... but in my opinion a tire should last for more the 100miles for the money that they cost lol.... should i replace it, or ride on the plug or find a tire shop that with put in a perm plug?

I would not replace it..I'd find a tire shop or another motorcycle shop that will fix it..

What DJ said! My new Z6 rear now has two plugs in it...only done 500 miles on the damn thing! Properly done plugs are perfectly safe.

I can confirm Chris' reply. Got a puncture in juni on my Pilot Roads (sharp piece of rock on the road) after having ridden them for 2000 km (1250 miles) and plugged them with the BMW repair kit. I checked with my dealer who advised to verify air pressure the first few days to make sure there was no residu leaking of air. Now at 10000 km (6250 miles) and they still hold strong!

Hmmm. I thought that the BMW repair kit (i.e. cold fix) was only good to get home.... Anyway, I hit a nail in my brand new rear tire few weeks ago. Thought I needed a new tire, but many people told me (including the Michelin repair shop) that a so-called hot-fix would do the trick. That means, they take off the tire and melt (vulcanize) a plug of rubber into the hole. It works fine with me and I feel 100% safe again. Costs: 14 euro's...
