Found two used R1150R's in the local area both are black both have ABS
The 04 has BMW cases and windshield
The 02 has less than 6k miles --- no idea how many months this may have set without riding.
The 04 still has a few months or warrantee and naturally is priced significantly higher.
Questions are:
1. What are the differences in the 02 and 04 models?
2. Are the ABS systems the same?
3. Possible problems with the low mileage on the 02?
thanks

what's the difference?

Major differences: 2002 early ABS Gen III called EVO included servo assist (power) brakes with rubber hoses and it was a single spark plug per cylinder while 2004 had a slightly different servo adjustment to avoid grabbiness (valving changes in the ABS module I think) and SS lines as well as dual spark plugs per cylinder. The EVO is the rotor caliper combo, the servo is the modulated valve system in the ABS module. There might also be an overall computer chip flash upgrade to the '04 Motronic (2A version???)
2002 with low miles might have some corrosion and weak battery.

The Older I Get, The Less I Know.
Geo,
Are looking at the bikes at Wild West Honda in Katy? The happen to have ads for an 04 with bags and windshield and an 02 without those items for $5995.
If so, the 04 is gone. How do I know? I bought it!
The 02 was still there, but he didn't have it out -- claimed it had a gas leak. I kind of thought he just was hiding it back so I'd buy the newer and pricier one. I didn't fuss though because the 04 was sweet!

Hey Casey
Believe it or not that's a relief --- I've been eyeing that thing since it showed up on their web site but never went down to look it over... I was scared it might follow me home, and while I might be pleased what's her name might take a different view... Hope you enjoy lots of good miles; you have good reason to smile, that one was priced right ...

Hey Geo,
I live in Tyler, so it was a long haul for me to go get that bike. I was fortunate, though, because a friend of mine happened to be in Katy a few weeks ago visiting his daughter, so he went to Wild West and looked at both bikes for me. He said both looked to be in good shape, though he thought the 02 looked like it had been ridden harder. From all I hear, you are supposed to ride these bikes a little hard. Anyway, the price on the 02 is pretty good I think. It is the ABS model too, which is pricier. I like the ABS on mine. It makes a whiney sound, but I don't mind. It is nice to know that the thing will stop on a dime.
