Hi All,
I took a demo on a 1200R yesterday and I really liked it, except for the seat. They could have done a lot better, especially on the rear seat. Such a change from the 1150R. I think a couple of gel pads would be in order. The rear shock was set on "standard". Is that the lowest (softest) setting? The suspension seemed a little choppy.
I couldn't believe the transmission. Totally silent shifting. The gear indicator is definitely needed ("well, it says 1, but I couldn't feel or hear the clunk").
At first it seemed to fall into turns at slow speed but I quickly got used to it. Does it have a fuel gauge without the $225 computer option?
I was given a $14,794 out the door, zero options, price. I think shipping was around $500. Seems a little high.
Anybody discount these machines? I live in North Texas, but I'm willing to travel, a little.
Jim in Denton, Tx.
Anybody paying list?

I found my post where I went on about the price I was about to pay back in November. "Does anyone have strong feelings either pro or con towards a dealer in the south east? I live near Knoxville Tn. and will soon be buying an 07 R1200R. We have a dealer here in Knoxville but when last I was in there they were giving me this story about $500 off of the price of $15,290 off of an R1200R if I buy the one that's in stock now and buy it before Dec.31. It had the options , of a center stand , sport wind shield, case mounts and heated grips. Another R1200R was on the way but it would not be included in the sale because it was not in stock when the sale began. They seem like decent people but I haven't much experience."
It also had the computer.

That price does sound high, $1,700 in TTL and all?? Base price at my local dealer is 13k. You may want to try them, BMW of Fort Worth just south of you (if you haven't already). Thats where I bought my 1150R a year+ back. A short trip down I-35W and around Loop 820 to Hurst. Their website is http://www.bmwfortworth.com They had a few 1200R's last time I was there, so I don't think they're selling like was anticipated. They negotiated on my bike a little so there may be a chance you can get the price down. I'm sure getting two dealers to 'bid' for you to buy a bike from them will drive your price down as well. The ol' "Well BMW of Denton quoted me this, what can you do for me" line lets the dealer know your someone is going to get your business, and it may not be them. Best of luck getting a great deal on a super machine.
I think the R12 is a requirement so a loan is ok.Grrl wrote:I need about a $12,000 bonus at work so I can go buy one... le'sigh I really don't want a loan for something that isn't a requirement... and I'm not going to sell my truck to be 100% bike! Rar.. I need a new job LOL
