Alternative Front muguard for a R1150R?
Is there an optional front mudguard which uses the standard brackets available for the R1150R other than the ugly BMW standard front "Darth Vadar" original?
Re: Alternative Front muguard for a R1150R?
I'm not an expert, but I remember seeing the R1150RT mudguard installed on the RR, so it is possible. I doubt any modification would be necessary. I'm sure others will chime in with verification.gunga din wrote:Is there an optional front mudguard which uses the standard brackets available for the R1150R other than the ugly BMW standard front "Darth Vadar" original?

You, gunga din sir, have insulted me, my bike and my honour (SLAP. SLAP). I challenge you to a duel!gunga din wrote: other than the ugly BMW standard front "Darth Vadar" original?

I put my friends front mud guard of his Ducati on my bike once...it looked real stupid...Because our headlight is mounted high so it will not hit the beak when the forks are compressed...so..when you put a normal guard on it looks like the forks are way too long.
The only way you could make a normal front guard look good would be to somehow lower the headlight a few inches..and that's big job.
The new R1200R has our forks so their guard should also fit..but with the standard headlight it will look wrong..IMO.

I have an extra Fireblade fender, having put a carbon fibre jobie on it. So I tried the stock Fireblade one on the R...and it looked like poo. DJ is right about the long fork length vs. the headlight...works only if you like the chopper look, which is so in!
If this is important to you, get the rockster headlight, but then there goes that classic big headlight that makes the R so appealing. Really, it's the beaks styling relative to the bikes shape that makes it positively beautiful at 80% of angles, and admittedly awkward at 20%, but 100% distinctive. Thats better than modern BMW designs that are 20% beautiful and 80% awkward, IMHO.

Front fender
Newbie here. I'll try not post stupid things. I think the Rockster front fender might fit, if that is not offensive.
careful what you ask for

Actually I know of one who has been able to put a Roadster beak on a Rockster (because he likes it and didn't want to miss out on the whole beak thing)
I agree with 1150929...from 80% views the beak looks great..the other 20% it looks dumb..IMO...thats why I'm very carfull when taking pics..
