I was doing a little searching on the board earlier, as I've been thinking of getting engine crash guards (Hepco Becker) and just wanted to see what else was available and what comments people had already contributed.
The look of the Hepcos doesn't bother me, but I did find a forum member's pictures here and from that picture, it looks like the Hepco gets in the way of the BMW power/accessory socket. Anyone able to confirm that? If so, that's an issue for me as I run a GPS on my ride fairly often.
I have also seen a few mentions of the Stanton guards which look very good. I was wondering if any of the other UK members had had any of those shipped over? Comments I've seen on the board seem positive about those, and they do look pretty nice I have to say.
Yes, I do know about the Wunderlich bars also. Not sure if I'd want to go that high on the price, plus they seem tricky to fit and to my eyes they look like the heads could still take a knock (but that's probably an optical illusion, again reports here seem very positive!).
So I'm currently leaning toward the Stantons I guess...

I was looking at the Stantons also, a board member reported that they were no longer being made, so I ended up buying the Hepco Becker bars. They do not block the power oulet that has you concerned, I always plug my battery tender in if the bike is going to sit more then a week. On the left side, rear bolt, I would use some anti seize compound when installing it. A bottle jack to hold up the Transmisson helps a lot too.

A shame if the Stantons aren't being made any more, I did quite like the look of those
But thank you for confirming that the power socket is still accessible, that's definitely a huge help and means I will definitely consider the Hepcos.
I have the plastic BMW guards at the moment which I wouldn't particularly trust in a fall. Had the bike nearly 2 years now but I'm short in leg so considering I wish to keep the RR for a good long while I'm figuring it's only a matter of time before I get a footing wrong or something... happens to us all sometime
