The 140bhp, 195kg (fully-fuelled) Sportboxer is leading BMW’s assault on an all out, no compromises sports machine.
This weekend it will be competing in one of the world’s toughest endurance races, the Le Mans 24-hour. On track the Sport Boxer will be up against Yamaha R1s, Suzuki GSX-R1000s and Honda Fireblades; no small feat for an air-cooled, twin-cylinder giving away the best part of 50bhp.
The final production version of the Sport Boxer will be officially unveiled at the Paris Motorcycle Show in September, it is predicted the bike will cost £12,000 when it hits the showrooms in 2008.
I love it....Nate spilled the beans about the overhead cams.

Just been reading about the new BMW R1200S HP on the pelican site...Wowser!
140 hp...and 50 lbs lighter than the currant R1200S...Carbon fiber and titanium everywhere...Xenon headlight...23ltr tank.
Kern said that BMW is running a new Boxer engine with overhead camshafts replacing the high-cam/short-pushrod configuration in current Boxer engines. Kern said the bike is scheduled for production in the future.
DJ, it is GREAT to see BMW go out and make a bike like that! To see their commitment to getting the bike up to the level of the competition, really shows they are serious! And I am drooling......
RIDE TOO PRETEND, PRETEND TOO RIDE.

Unfortunately I "owe" more on my last one than he's worth on trade in. Good thing I still love my Roadster...not that my abilities would do justice to a bike like the R1200S!
