Obviously our bikes don't come with touring windshields. I've purchased a Laminar Lip which for long trips gives no sense of relief from the wind. Unless I rest my head on my tankbag(stuffed full of clothing), which is quite relaxing mind you. To be honest it blew off on the freeway already . Stupid 3M tape.
What windshield do you use? Do you use the actual touring shield, or is there someting better that looks cooler ?
I believe riceburners windshield looks pretty sweet.
Where did you get it? It looks way nicer than the laminar lip.
Also if anyone has a touring shield for sale, I may be interested in purchasing.
Why ride a naked bike with wind shield? Call me silly but I've taken the Rock on long trips before with no wind screen of any sort. It makes you feel alive when the wind whipping at your body at 110-MPH or so.
Cogito Ergo Vroom - I think therefore I ride.

I've done the riceburner screen mod and it does make a difference. Takes the wind off your chest and for me (6'1", 32" inseam) there is no additional buffeting at the helmet level. I used an old tinted HJC visor and had to trim the edges off to look right, but the bend of a visor almost perfectly matches the curve of that instrument cowl. I will try to post pics soon.

I hear ya, I love that feeling too. I'm more concerned about the rain without a windshield.
But I'm pretty new to motorcycle riding. And I plan on taking a fairly long trip this summer. I"ve been lucky so far and have just taken one day trips (one day to get there). So it's easy to avoid the rain for the most part. I don't even have rain gear yet. oops. All part of staying naked I guess.

Oooh - would be very interested in seeing them, be very useful to see how someone else has done it.

Just go faster and turn your head now and then. The water slides right off.

I've been monkeying around with the shield that came with my Rockster. It was a pretty tall shield that I cut about three inches off soon as I got it. Here's a couple shots of after cutting it off:
I used it at that height on the last tour I went on, but that's too tall. I can tuck behind it even with the tank bag and get a still pocket, but when upright I had some headslapping going on at higher speeds. Just enough that it's tiring on a long trip. So, I've trimmed it even more, left it same height in center but rounded off the sides to relieve some of that side pressure. Just did that, so I'll have to see how it feels next time I take a ride... it's raining now...

Sorry ladies and gents, but I must fully agree with this... may just be my body size (I am definately NOT 6'2") but when I got my Rockster I got it for the naked looks (I this they call it "urban" nowdays)
So what if it gets a bit windy after 70-80mph...? I still think that the bike looks nicer without a windscreen. On the other hand maybe there isn't one on the market that really "fits"
Having seen riceburner's bike, I must admit that his screen is one of the cooler ones...no way though I would have gotten myself into such trouble to fabricate something similar.
