ABS+clutch bleed, fuel filter; How Much $?

It's a possibility. I am debating on there or Americade. Will let you know when the time gets closer.

I have the Speed Bleeders on my Honda and service it myself but, I've been told that if you have a BMW with ABS, that you can't do it yourself because you need some type of computer ( Motronic I think it was called ).

Can someone here give me the straight story about BMW's, ABS and brake servicing?

I have a 2004 R1150R with ABS and did the complete brake bleed w/o a problem. The only hassle is that it's time consuming in that you have to remove the tank to get to the six control circuit bleed screws. On a non ABS bike, it's simple and quick with only three bleed screws on the wheel circuits.

No need to mess with the motronics as long as you do the bleed procedure correctly.

Thad was kind enough to invite me over to watch him bleed the ABS and replace the fuel filter on his bike. Got to meet Mark, as well. I'm sure he will post his observations, and they will be more valuable than mine since he was actually doing the work, but it seemed to be much easier than I had anticipated. No spraying brake fluid, no real drama at all. As for SpeedBleeders, I plan to save my money; not worth it at all.

To those thinking about doing it, print out the directions available here and elsewhere and keep them handy. Buy a pre-made 'Ministan' or fabricate your own. Work slowly and deliberately and you should be fine. You will learn a lot about your bike and save yourself a fortune.
