Z Technik windscreen for R12R - anyone tried this one?

Post by BackNBlack »

Has anyone installed a Z Technik windscreen on your R12R? http://shop.ztechnik.com/cgi-bin/ztech/ ... l=bm%2d050

I heard about this thru local dealer and wonder how good it is, and how compares to Cee Bailey for touring duty.

Thanks,

That is a good looking screen! What does it mount to? I have the sport mount and would buy that screen today if it attached to my current setup.

Mark,

Looks like it comes with it's own mount. I seem to recall seeing other pics of it that show a mount fastening in the same spots as the stock BMW mounts fasten to.

Looks to me that the screen just mounts to the same mount as the original sports screen. I don't believe that there's a bracket suplied as there's no comment on this in the info on the site and it's also not mentione dunder materials(only mentiones the material of the screen). I do think that the screen looks rather nice for a tall screen but for now I prefer no screen at all.

According to dealer it does not need a BMW mount, or separately purchased mount, so it must come with it's own hardware. I think price is around $189 USD.

Well If the brackets included the price is very very low(seeing a simple tailbag from these guys alreadu does $120) and therefore I seriously doubt it, but people who would like to get one will just have to make sure in advance. I've sent them an e-mail though and will let you know what they write back.

I like the looks, too. If that is the total price and it is well made, then it is a good deal.

Jeff at Z-Technic e-mailed me and said that their windshiel comes with it's own bracket. It will begin production first of July. Sounds like a deal.

I found that my dealer (DeSimone in NJ) is a Ride and Buy Z-Technik dealer.. which means they are supposed to let you try the new shield out before buying it.

Will be talking to the parts manager tomorrow about this - but hope to have a firsthand report shortly after it's released.

The Pirate is a stand up (if not upright) guy.
See what you think. Much less scary.

I have one on order from my local BMW dealer - A&S Cycles. They said 1st week in July and are checking on it for me. So hopefully it'll get in soon and I can let you know if this is as good as expected.

They don't show up on their website. Heck, the R1200R doesn't show up on their website.

A little confusing, National Cycles owns ZTechnik (or they may be the same entity altogether). I had my dealer call them and ask about the status, and hey did notify them that its shipping now.

If you go to the Ztechnik website - they know about the R1200R just fine..

I hope to be receiving one of the VStream shields shortly..

BTW - they are wholly owned by National Cycle.. just a FWIW.
