Rockster Shocks

I am wanting to install Rockster shocks on my bike. I have a used front one and am waiting to locate a youthful rear shock also. They are the Showa white shocks and I believe they are lower than the Roadster OEM shocks.

Question:

Can someone tell if they are enough lower to render my center stand un-usable?

Dear Boxer.......

I hope not to quench your enthusiasm, however the front end of the Rockster is essentially that of the R11xxS variant. I'm not sure but seem to remember that the shocks have a diferent stem arrangement at the top.....so it might not fit. Hopefully someone else willl chime in and shed additional light on the subject.

Moving to the rear of the bike, they are both alike, so I wouldn't expect to have one shock shorter than the other. However in answer to your question, the moment you lower the bike the amount of force required to heave the bike onto the center stands grows significantly, to the point that it can become unusable.

Buddy B, with the R1200GS, from BB2 installed a set of shorter Wilbers and had to shorten the center stand by cutting and welding.......extreme caution here since the cut has to be taken on that part of the stand with a bend and if you cut too much the stand won't reach the ground.....

I had a set of Rockster shocks on my R1150R. Installing is the same as stock. They do not lower the bike at all. The front is a hair shorter than stock R1150R and the rear is a fraction taller. All it does is to tilt the bike at a more downward angle, giving faster steering. I felt the damping a bit sportier than stock.
