About to sell my 2007 R1200R
Hi fellas, I'm about to sell my 2007 R1200R. It has the usual options: trip computer, heated grips etc. It is black with white pinstripes in perfect condition with BMW bags, A Rocky Mayer seat and 8,800 miles. What do you all think would be a fair asking price?

Jim - I have seen ones with similar equipment going for $12.5K used, so..
Extras like the seat don't add a lot to the bike's resale value unless the buyer not only fits the seat - but also wants one. You can usually do better putting the original back on and selling the upgraded seat seperately (if that's possible and Meyer didn't use the original seat for the pan..)

Now that the '08s loom on the horizon, $12.5K might be a bit high. I bought my '07 with 1200 miles on it in October for a bit less - but the seller was desperate to sell it.
If it were me, I'd probably pull the bags and seat and sell them separately.
Whatcha want fer 'em?..

Why are you selling?

I'm selling for a variety of reasons. I have not been able to find a windshield to my likeing. They are all too upright. I found a good deal on a low mileage 1150R with all the farkles. I came to the R12 from an 1150GS. I really like the GS ride better but it was too tall for me. Hopefully the 1150R will solve that problem while giveing me the ride I like.

Hopefully you've taken the 1150 out on an extended test ride. I believe you'll find the engine to be dissapointing, and the handling to be somewhat less than the 1200.. but to each his own.. The GS ride is due to a very soft long travel suspension.. the R1150R doesn't use the same suspension components - the ones it does use are more in line with the R1200R (but not quite as good.. IMHO.)Handsome Jim wrote:I'm selling for a variety of reasons. I have not been able to find a windshield to my likeing. They are all too upright. I sold my R1150R because it was too heavy and was harder to manage. Moving it in the garage always gave me heart failure. I certainly am no expert on the differences in suspension like Don talked about, I just know that the 1200R "feels" better. The throttle response is night and day. It's like going to an upright, confidence-inspiring, sportbike. I cannot imagine ever going back to an R1150R.

Maybe you should test ride the new F800GS?Handsome Jim wrote:I'm selling for a variety of reasons. I have not been able to find a windshield to my likeing. They are all too upright.
