Bag mounts

Post by Goman »

Just purchased an '04 80th Anv.Ed. It has what look like bag mounts bolted to the frame. Anyone tell me what bags fit these mounts? BMW dealer said I needed to buy additional racks, bags, keys, reflectors etc. Seems like a lot of $.Also, has anyone fitted GIVI bags to this bike? If so, what do I need? I like the looks of the monokey E41 with removable racks. Best place to purchase? It has a Remus exhaust fitted.

You'll have to post some pics of what came with your bike for help. If you already have the mounts, the hard cases can be sourced in the classified section of this forum or ebay.....or just about anything else.

There are bags in the Flea Market section of ADVRider.com all the time.

I probably wouldn't put GiVi bags on an Ed80; they don't match worth dookey, even though they work great.
Honey? How many bikes am I allowed to have?

Huh! That's the BMW bag mount for the Rockster? I figured they looked like the GS mounts.

Those are not the BMW system case racks. Not sure what they are, Givi?

Ok then. That solves the problem. My dealer did not know what they were. They have to be replaced with whatever racks I decide on. I like the GiVi cause the racks come completely off except for a few tabs. I will only need the bags a couple of times a year. The rest of the time I like the bike and my women naked!

I actually dont mind the look of the stock racks on my Rock. They are not distracting or take away from the look of the bike IMO.
See, I told you guys, half the time I dont know what I'm talking about.

My rock came with GS mounts, they were plain, and I liked them, but I wanted the luggage rack, so I put on the R racks. The grab handles are nice.

I modified (lots of welding and cutting) a set of GIVI racks from a Honda VFR to fit my Rockster. This way I can use my GIVI 41L and 21L bags on all my bikes (My VFR and my V Strom have GIVI racks). GIVI used to make racks for the R1100R but I was never able to find a set.

All that is left on my bike after the racks are removed are three tabs.

I never ride Two Up so I removed the rear foot peg and mounted one of the "clips" there. The other one is near the turn signal.

I ended up purchasing SW Motech Quick Lock side racks from Twisted Throttle. They were $230.They fit the Rock and are removable, leaving only the tabs. I removed the BMW acc.tiedowns that were installed. I had to relocate the turn signals, rearward and do not like that but it was necessary to have the racks clear. They are very good quality. German made but the installation directions suck.
I bought the Givi 41N cases and will put them to use the first of June on a weeks ride to the mountains of GA and Tenn. Thanks for the input!
