Rear Tire: Weird Line
I recently got a new rear tire put in the Rockster(Pilot Power 2CT). After about 200 miles on it, I noticed a line had become apparent just left of center. The line is not deep, but goes all the way around the tire and almost looks like a seam or something. Could it be where the 2 compounds of the tire meet? i'll get pics up a bit later, but in the mean time, anyone know what I'm talking about? Or ever seen this? Whats it from? Is it normal? Dangerous?
See, I told you guys, half the time I dont know what I'm talking about.

Johnny-
I have seen the same line on my tires in the past. I asked the same question as you some time last year. Don't remember all the responses (I think someone posted a response from a tire manufacturer) but the bottom line is -- don't worry about it. Something to do with the manufacturing process. Mine was just like yours I'm certain------went all the way around the tire and was just off center. At first I thought I had cut the tire on something but closer examination showed that was not the case.

I've got Michelin Pilot Road tires (single compound) on my bike. They exibit a mold mark or "seam" on both the front and back tires that goes all the way around the tire. I've seen it many times, but only on Michelins as far as I can remember-nothing to worry about.
Re: Rear Tire: Weird Line
That's the ABS sensor ring indicator. If a tire doesn't have this ring in the tread, it isn't allowed on an ABS equipped motorcycle. Installing a tire with the ABS indicator ring on a non-ABS bike has serious warranty implications. Please ask your BMW service manger for details - and record the conversation.

yea,and if that tire is put on backwards with the abs line, the bike will always want to swap directions

While you're at it---------ask them to check the antifreeze level in the radiators.
And like Mac said...........be sure to record the conversation.

While at the dealer tell them that you want to lighten the bike a bit and to that end you want to replace the air in the tires with Helium.....then ask them if they have any.........
