No 50Rs allowed in Iraq

I am about to be deployed for about a year to Iraq and since I cannot take it with me, I am going to have to store my 1150R for over a year :( Any suggestions besides change the oil and plug in the battery tender? Thanks for the help and be safe.

I have heard just recently that the battery tender can dry out the battery. No expert on this but I wonder myself?

Don't forget to fill the tank, add Stabil and run the engine for a minute till your sure the injectors have stabilized fuel in them. Plug in the tender, set it on the center stand and cover her up. Thanks for your service to our country. Be safe.

Hope you have a good tour.

Do you have a riding buddy who could take care of the bike for you - if I was leaving a bike that long, I'd be happier if it was getting occasionaly use - all it needs is an hours ride once a month. :) (lets face it - that's all the riding MOST modern bikes get... ;) )

I think it does. I used to put mine on the tender every night, then at 6k found the battery dry and terminal corrosion. They're not supposed to do that, but there it was. I have the PC-680 in there now. Shouldn't have to worry now, eh ?
I don't get caught in the rain, I ride in it on purpose.

Hopefully he still has the stock gel cell. This shouldn't be an issue if he does.

My dad leaves his bikes for up to 6 months with a full tank of gas with Stabil in it, and plugged into a Battery Tender.

Padgett - Good luck with the tour! Things are certainly quieter over there right now. My own son is a mountain biker, not a motorcyclist (yet!) but he improvised! :lol: Maybe you can find something else to ride!
