R1150R accessories

Post by obc »

Hello

Am pleasantly surprised to have found this site. Since purchasing 02 R1150R in May02 (have 70,000 happy km on it now) have since provided it company with an 82 R100RT (90,000 km) and an 88 Honda Nighthawk (13,000 km) which my son uses. At age 56 the 1150R was my first bike and I can honestly say it has given me a ton of fun. The entire process of attending a course, getting a motorcycle license, meeting fellow riders, weekend rides, motorcycle shows, publications, new accessories, etc has me smiling every time I throw a leg over the seat and turn the key. My heart pumps just as fast each spring as it did 6 years ago when the bike is wheeled out of the garage. Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of such an enjoyable group of people!!

2 quick questions: 1) am looking at driving lights from a company called Martin Fabrication (US based) - their product (both halogen and HID) seems to be very good and have seen pics of 1150R's with installation. Does anyone have some experience dealing with this company?
2) have not been able to locate a passenger backrest to fit the 1150R factory luggage rack (or a least one that looks decent). Any ideas?

Thanks again

hi, i installed the martin fabrication lights on my r a couple months ago. i emailed the company prior to purchasing and asked a few questions, they were very prompt in replying. installation was a breeze, gave me an excuse to pull my tank off for the first time. i have been pleased with the overall performance, and the group i regularly ride with says the r is much more visible now. hope this helps

The Stealth backrest from Pirate's Lair works well. They are discontinued for the R1150R, but available used from time to time. I bought one recently and am very pleased with it. Check on this site and IBMWR.
