WARNING!!!!!

Post by uchy9999 »

if you ever come visit upstate new york and your having mechanical problems with your bike
do not, i repeat, do not take it to Maxsbmw in Troy, new york. They are know for their poor
mechanical work and their high prices around the area. You have been warned, so avoid the
experience.

Do you care to relate your experience, as there are less and less capable and worthy dealers in the BMW network.....IMO

ucny9999 - I don't think that a largely anonymous, general rant like this really serves any useful purpose.

What is said about Max's may or may not be warranted but without any detail, there is no real basis for anyone to form an opinion. Most reasonable people are likely to simply ingnore what's said in a such a vague posting.

Having spent a year living in the Albany area and used Max's for basic service, I would recommend them. I guess it depends on what you have done.

uchy9999.
Thanks for the warning and do not feel guilty for posting it.
This board is a main source for DIY and how to avoid the dealerships. =D> =D> =D>
But, any BMW dealership is not a CLUB where we all are members, it is a place of business.
I will do anything to avoid going to the dealer for the repairs and 99.99% of the parts I purchased over the Web with 20% off and no TAX.
I am fortunate enough to have two BMW dealerships nearby. One only few miles away and another one 20-25 miles away.
I like both owners, very nice guys, but I have absolutely no loyalty to either one of them.
We blame the dealers for bad workmanship and bad service, but any dealer will tell you that it is hard to find a good help today. :) :) :)

True dat.

And with many of us performing our own maintenance and repairs these days, it would be difficult for the dealer to pay good help when they do find it.

FWIW, my single experience with Max's was a good one.

And yes my friends....here is the ultimate solution, with all the knowledge and skills that reside in this forum and how we blanket the USA we should consider taking BMW to task and becoming the underground BMW repair network, that is to begin with.

We would charge $40/hr of that $5 will go for R&D and $5 would go for web maintenance, the rest would be for the wrench and assistant if there is more than 1 person. Forum members can attend and for $5 learn while the work is being done. Look at the possibilities:

By appointment only (so it will not affect your daily activities)
Some serious competition for BMW that would definitely catch their attention
A network that blankets the USA that BMW can dream of having
Those that wrench will keep their skill level up and learn
Members get educated in the maintenance and repair of their bikes
Parts and service will be like nothing ever put together at any level
DIY videos can be generated at a cost of $10 for the forum active members and at $25 for non members, not only containing the procedure, tools, part numbers as well and where can they be sourced inexpensively.

Folks the options are endless.......yes, far fetched, but can you see the possibilities. BMW would have to get their engineering oddities, warranty and dealer network in order as the only thing they would be doing is sell new bikes, parts and act on warranties.

We would have a lock on the used market big time and the new owners wouldn't go to the dealer for basic maintenance as they would have paper proof that the bikes have received proper maintenance. Then later on a few of us will have the audacity to become BMW dealers and with 4 or 5 dealers we would canvas the US. The transactions would be via the web, undercutting the other "dealers" pricing the bikes would be prepped and delivered to one of our members, close to the future owner that will explain in detail the operation of the bike to the new owner and become his/her mentor.

Now that is thinking out of the box and it is doable……don’t thank me, just send $1 to my retirement which has been soooo depleted.

Shame on you people.
Where is your LOYALTY to the LOCAL dealership that sold you such a beautiful bike :?: :?: :?:

P.S. Just got a slightly used K1200LT "not from the LOCAL dealerships", but the ride across three states was nice :D :D :D
