Time to delivery from Germany

Folks,
Do you know how long it usually takes for custom-spec bike to be shipped and delivered from the factory in Germany to the US?
I anticipate no availability of a black R12R with ABS/ASC/TPM combo available locally, but may be mistaken.

I had this conversation with my dealer 2 month ago when I bought my "R". and he said that BMW produce the bikes by batches if you pass your order on time it can be 3 to 5 weeks but if you didn't it can go over 2 to 3 month. (Summer is approaching... so I don't know if its bad or good for you)

Ask your dealer to call the right peoples eventually in Germany because there is ways to know exactly when your order will be ready according to the production site plannings.

Maybe your local dealer could find the bike of your dreams at another dealership and get it from them. I don't know if that cooperation sort of thing is done within the dealership network or not.

My bike is just like the one you want. It was scheduled to build with different options but the dealer was able to make changes. It took a little over two months for me to take delivery. Ask your dealer if he has a black bike in the pipeline and see if you can customize it to your satisfaction. Better yet, buy a used one and save some big bucks.

My bike is just like the one you want. It was scheduled to build with different options but the dealer was able to make changes. It took a little over two months for me to take delivery. Ask your dealer if he has a black bike in the pipeline and see if you can customize it to your satisfaction. Better yet, buy a used one and save some big bucks.

Checked with the dealer today- no such configuration in the country and nothing in the pipeline. He said he would call the distributor and ask when the next one could be expected, but offered to sell one without ASC, which is available in the US. I am not in a terrible rush, and would like to get ASC to complete the ABS and make the bike the safest machine possible.
I test rode the bike today- some amaizing balance and handling, it WAS hard to get off. But then I test rode a F800ST which is 2nd on my short list, and loved it too. The ST was much better on the highway at speed, also very good on the backroads, but the R12R was unbeatable on the twisties. I ride both backroads and go long distance on superslab on my vacations- so there is a lot to think about.

You should be able to tack your order via the BMW dealer system, once you place it. The system will tell your dealer when the bike is assembled, despatched etc.

I waited about 10 weeks (dealer's estimate was 12) - and that was with longer sailing time to the south seas. I knew when the bike was assembled, shipped, docked/landed and trucked.

My 2 cents is it's worth the wait to get the bike just how you want. I wanted ASC, which was what created the wait - and I'm glad I waited.

Caroanbill, that's also how my dealer presented it to me in case I wanted all those options...and he added price negotiation window will be shorten anyway and you'll have to wait for your bike.

That combo is a standard option in Canada perhaps the dealer can contact a dealer in Canada...

I will be waiting for mine if I end up getting it because I need the lowered suspension and no one in Ontario, Canada seems to be bringing them in that way. But that is ok. I can wait forhte right bike to come along. I love my current bike it is just almost 25 years old...
