Touring Bars

I am considering some Wunderlich Touring bars for my '03. Have seen a couple of comments on here but was wondering whether they can be used with the BMW (GS) hand protectors that I use. Can anyone out there answer this one please.

I would also welcome more comments about how these bars compare against the standards, and an approximation of how wider, closer they are to the rider.

I installed the Wunderlich bars last fall. There's no problem with the GS hand guards. The back set of the touring bars will test the limits of your cables. It will not work on a Rockster without longer cables/hoses. To install these bars I had to route the cables around the headlight brackets, it's that close. I'll try and get some pictures up this week-end.

I agree with Airman. I put Wunderlich bars on my 1150R based on some of his posts. They were about 1 inch wider on each side than stock and set back a little more than 1 5/8 inch bar backs. They do strain the limits of the hoses, even when relocated to outside the head light frame. Because of the extra width, they make the bike feel lighter, but the extra width negates some of the setback advantage. I tried using them with bar backs, but the hoses clearly were stretched no matter what I did to re-route them. I think they're worth the money.

I have Wunderlich Touring bars on top of 1.5 inch "UP" and 1.5 inch "BACK" bar backs.
It did take some rerouting of the cables but it was well forth it.
Much easier to scratch the pegs.

The installation of these bars pretty much eliminated the pain in my hands. The one issue I had not mentioned here was the mirror angle. My Ricky Bar setup was narrower and gave me a good view of my shoulders in my expensive KRS mirrors but little else. With the wider Wunderlich bar I have extremely good view behind me now. I don't see how TicTac50 was able to install the barbacks. On my RR the brake line on the right side absolutely precludes any more setback for me.
