Kickstand baseplate

Has anybody seen a baseplate that expands the size of the kickstand base? I've seen them for the GS, RT, but never for the R series. That rinky-dink base certainly doesn't give my wife confidence when we're out in sandy/dirt areas. Can't say I blame her. Thought I would see if I could find something else, the closest I've seen is a plate that you toss on the ground and place the kickstand on it.

They make them but they are like $30. I just got a piece of alumnum ground to shape so as not to hit anything when folded up. Drilled four holes used countersunk screws, washers and nylocks. Not pretty but paint it flat back you can't hardly see it.

Put the screws up thru the bottom, use the washers to "clamp" over the existing foot and tighten down the nuts.

crude but effective.

I was given one at one of our local ride/get togethers. Probably what you mentioned but works well for me. I have a small nylon cord tied thru a hole in it and keep it in my tankbag. I clip the cord to my mirror and never have to get off the bike to set it in place nor retrieve it. I have done a fair amount of bike camping and park the bike on grass, dirt, gravel and so on. Works very well.

Just use a 3x3 inch piece of metal, plastic, wood, etc. with a 4 foot string attached to it. Keep it in your tank bag and when you use the kickstand on some questionable surface, just throw it on the ground and with your foot, slide it under the kickstand. Loop the string over your mirror to remind you to pick it up when you leave. Works great, costs nothing.

I use a slice of toast...attached to a piece of 1/4" nylon rope.

If you put slices of cheese on the toast and place it under the grill untill the cheese starts to melt, you won't need the 1/4" rope.

I find Red Leicester works well, just remember to sprinkle freshly ground black pepper on it to stop the mice from eating it.

A dab of Loctite red on each of the 2 screws, and you should be good. Mine haven't budged since I installed the "Side Stand Enlarger" in 2005. One of my better mods.

You can use one of thsoe plastic coasters used to put under drinks or beer cans.....just another choice.

Or wait until Boxer moves up from toast to PB&J sandwiches and buy his toast from him.

Bob's BMW has them for all BMW bikes. Their part number for the foot that fits a R1150R is SSF11. I bought one last week it was $26.95

I suppose one can be had with the Rondell on it and paint it to match the tank color, but I just use the cover from a discarded electric box. Can't remember how much I paid for it. Yes, I can. It was free. Seems to work pretty well when I toss it in the dirt and then put the sidestand on it. It's square, not round, but I overlook the imbalance of aesthetics.
I've never washed it.

Tying the string on it IS a very good idea, though. Like that.

I decided to splurge and bought a zinc-coated cover for an electrical box at Home Despot. The cost was $.69. Then I decided to really go overboard and attach piece of nylon cord to the cover, bring the cost up to about $.75.

Lately I been feeling a bit unfulfilled however and have been thinking of painting it with a black circle with blue and white checkerboard pattern in the center. I can't remember where I saw that design . . .

I bought the Bob's BMW plate two years ago. It works great in all situations, be warned you should locktite the screws.

On my 1100R I cut a piece of steel shaped like an egg only a sharper point and tack welded it to the kickstand and painted satin black -need to get around to doing one on my 1150R. No strings, no roundels, no Bob's, no $26.95+ and so on...
