Thinking of buying another - Q on selling prices for farkles

Post by GT Guy »

I'm toying with the idea of another "R" since my GT blocks a lot of wind and I live in the humidity capitol of the world (or so it seems when you've got ATGATT). Found one with BMW side bags and a smallish fairing and windshield by Parabellum. I don't need the bags as I'll take the GT for any 2-up trips, and I don't want the fairing and w/s as I want a naked bike.

They both appear to be in excellent shape. Deciding to buy the bike will depend largely on how much I can get back for these bits.

Any comments on how much I can reasonably expect to sell these for? Bags would include the mounting bars of course. Mini-fairing is black.

Thanks! :)

Not sure what you could sell the fairing and w/s for. There are a few folks out there looking for screens for this bike. If it's a touring screen, then you already have one interested buyer on BMW MOA (look under the market section) - guy in NY who wants one before the BMW MOA rally this July. There are also a few folks who contacted me about my touring screen, which I already sold to a guy in CA, so I could put you in touch with them.

As for the bags, again, 2 folks on BMW MOA are looking for bags and rails/attachment set up for an 03 and an 04 R1150R.

Again, not much help with pricing, but be assured that others out there are looking for these items. For pricing, a rough guide would be to check Beemerboneyard and see what they charge (or have charged) for similar items.

Hey GT guy-
I've seen bags go in the 3-400 range, touring screens 100 or so.

I've got an interest in the side racks if you do decide to sell. My budget is in the $75.00 range which is where they're usually priced when they come up for sale here.

Hope this helps.

I think you're right. If he puts them up on the "For Sale" forum here at 3-400 he'll probably sell them the first day.

Thanks guys for the feedback. $3-400'ish is what I thought they may go for. The w/s is a smaller market, so I don't have great hopes for that selling quickly.

As for the rails, I'm not sure if these bikes came with rails or not (I guess not). My last R had rails but no bags, but the seller may have sold them before I got there, who knows?

And my MOA membership has lapsed, not sure if I can still get into the forum.

BUT, negotiations continue on the bike, so we'll see if it was meant to be. :)

Any more comments and suggestions are, of course, very welcome!

Not sure if it's kosher, but if you buy the bike, I would be happy to put the three folks I know about who are seeking a w/s in touch with you. Like I'd mentioned, two were from this site and one was from BMW MOA. I don't think that they'd mind considering that they were the ones looking for a touring screen.
It strikes me that you have the right attitude. If it works out, then it works out. If not, then... you're left with only one very nice bike.
