Blowing fuse #1 upon load...

Post by BigRockR »

Hey Guys,

This problem has just started. About a month ago when I cranked my Rockster, i blew fuse #1 which controls the instrument cluster. I replaced it and it was fine for a couple hundred miles. Then the next time was closer...now, it pops as soon as I take off....Any Ideas?

Thanks,
BigRockR

Could it be the too-tight wire zip ties in the wire bundles near the steering head? There are frequent reports on the R1150R forum of intermittent electrical problems with controls in the instrument cluster. People found the wires stripped of insulation inside the plastic wrapping, causing shorts.
