Metaphorically speaking, I have been to the motorcycling mountaintop... in a weird consumer sort of way. The one I sold to get this was a S1000RR... that was the ersatz summit of the mountain. It was very exhilarating, even breath-taking at times, but it was also uncomfortable if I "stayed there too long" and on a hot day in traffic it was furnace-like enough to scorch important manly parts I still value highly.
Early this Spring I made the decision to try and satisfy the majority of my riding needs and wants with something new. This is my 6th BMW motorcycle. I am confident that the R1200R will give me the comfort and pure riding enjoyment that I was missing when I abandoned the opposed twin some years ago for the thrill of four cylinders in the form of several K bikes and finally the S1000.
Too long have I been away from these forums and among my fellow Roadster enthusiasts. I am happy to be back.

P.S. I have 500 miles on this bike and I can attest that it kicks 47 kinds of ass except for the one attached to me.
