What Other Tidbits From Beemer Boneyard?

I'm finally upgrading my quick disconnects. Going with the Beemer Boneyard product. Also having them send me a brake bleed funnel and the handy valve adjustment feeler gauges. Any other reasonably-priced handy tools or tidbits I should have them send me while I'm at it? Maybe a set of valve cover gaskets, huh? (Are these reusable?) Will I need to replace the fuel line along with the QD's?

The valve cover gaskets are good for a couple of changes if you take care of them. Clean them off good with carb cleaner before reinstalling and wipe the metal head surfaces clean of all oil, as well as the valve cover faces. The dealer will try to sell you new ones each time, but you don't need them. Always chek the little rubber inside gasket for cracks before installing it back in. The cracks like to hide from you!

I'm sure I've re-used mine a fair few times more than that..... (like 10 or so) Mine only started leaking recently because 3 of the threads in the head for the cam-cover screws stripped.

Either I'm not riding enough or I'm not adjusting my valves often enough. Or both.

How about some crush washers, some inner valve cover gaskets (sometimes called donuts) and possibly a clutch bleed nipple.

for the fuel line.. I just replaced my male ends with nickel ones I got from Chicago BMW earlier this week.. I could NOT get the fuel line off the old ones.. so.. ran down to the local auto parts store and just bought about three feet of 5/16" multi fuel injector hose.. works fine. just make sure to get the injector hose clamps.

as a side note, I had to replace all my fuel line last year anyway, because of longitudenal cracks on the inside of the original fuel lines.. so.. it was familier territory and its not hard. Mine is a '03 with 38K... you're right there.. might as well.

The donuts are the most important I think. Beemer Bone Yard has a deal on six ot so. I have never changed out the big cover gaskets and have never had a problem. If you've had trouble with the mount bolts like I did, replace the bolt seals. They're less than a buck apiece. Spray the bolt with WD and they go right on.Next time I order I'm going to buy a pack of donuts and the big seals. They also have some pretty good deals on oil filters.
