R1150R is a Morning Person

I live in Colorado Springs. Morning temps have been in the 60s. Sorry about that riders down in the south. When I commute to work in the morning Moon runs like a scalded ape, even at low RPMs. However, in the return home in the afternoon, the temp is in the middle 80s, once again sorry about that riders down in the south, she seems to run about 15 percent less sharp. Anyone have similar experiences?

I hear you. When I commute to work at 2:30 in the morning, the bike runs like nothing else, oil is happy. When I head home at 1 in the afternoon in 90 temps, the bikes responce is a little different. Bike has run this way since it came out of the box. It loves the fall, winter and early spring.

It's a fact that internal conbustion engines run better on cooler dense air - more oxygen per "gulp" is one way of putting it. Hence the TT riders finding their bikes running better during the old early morning practice, which was at some unearthly hour of 5am or similar, than they did during the evening sessions.

Absolutely. 60 degress and under, along with some moist air, make my boxer scream with joy.
She labors in a heat wave. (to be fair, don't we all)

The problem in the summers over the past few years is we are overrun with deer here in South Jersey, and riding at night to take advantage of the cooler air is more risky now than ever.

I live in Huntsville, AL. I've been riding all summer except this past week. Over 95 is just too hot when I have a perfectly good, white Ford Expedition sitting in my driveway. I have definitely noticed this effect, though I will say the bike runs great in the heat too. Not as crisp as a cool morning, but not something I really notice either.

One other temperature related effect I have noticed, however, is if the bike sits so that one side is in the sun and the other is in shadow. The sunlit jug can get heated up pretty good while the other is air temp. Probably a 70 or 80 degree difference on days with no wind. I have noticed it tends to run pretty rough, and may even stall, until the engine gets to equilibrium - usually just a few minutes.

Looking forward to much cooler temperatures predicted for next week. Highs only around 91.

I find this as well, and some have noted it's normal for an internal combustion engines.. Still the R seems to get really "sloppy" in warm weather.

Must be a tendency with the engine design..
