I got the Remus carbon for mine. It burbles nicely at low speed, but isn't too noisy once you get going. Exactly what I wanted. I took the insert out which is still showing in the picture.
Also here's a couple of short videos of me having a bit of fun on the Isle of Man a couple of weeks ago, unfortunately still on the standard exhaust as the new one had not arrived before I went.

Any plans for a power commander?
Cost?
Vender?
Nice looking bike!
Its just the can with the chrome headers, http://www.performanceparts-ltd.com/ are the distributor in the uk, but I got it through my local parts guy with other stuff so I don't know the exact price but its around £450. I've no plans for a power commander at the moment.

And make me feel really slow....!
Cheers, I normally take the trail bike to the IOM so I wasn't taking any chances
Good to know - I'm considering it for the same reasons as yours. Just didn't want to lose any of the performance factors. I put a y-pipe w/ a new can on my 1150 and there wasn't the same back pressure in the systems and it lost some prrformance under hard acceleration. So, I put the cat back on. I'm assuming with just replacing the can, it doesn't affect the back pressure much due to the cat being in place. Thanks

As far as I know the cat is in the can on the '11 models, that is why you lose the heat when you change the can. I understand the back pressure comment, but I thought that was part of the exhaust valve's job?
May sound red-neckish for the refined bunch of blokes residing on this forum, but I am serious when I ask if anyone has or heard of anyone who has drilled some holes (say 2 or 3 - quarter to half inch variety) in the rear of the r1200r stock exhaust just below the outlet pipe? I am not looking for more power, just some sound (the bike sounds electric to me). I don't have $700-$800 to drop right now on an Akra or Remus. The stock pipe is draining my testosterone each time I ride it (lol). I have seen this done on fuel injected jap cruisers w/o ill affects or remapping. Since this is my first BMW, I thought I would pose the question. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
Here is one of several youtube links that demonstrate the idea:
I understand your problem with the sewing machine sound coming out of the exhaust. Might be a good idea to start a thread titled Drilling the muffler to see if that catches the eye of someone that took a drill to their exhaust. I'v been on the list for a little while and never remember anyone doing it. I'll start a new thread.

Sorry If I wasnt clear, the standard end can has a cat, the Remus Hexacone dosen't. This is a pic with the insert still fitted:-
Once I took out the baffle out there was no obstruction, you could roll a golf ball through it.
It came with the link pipe, springs and instructions, the torx key in your underseat tool kit and pointy nosed pliers for the springs are the only special tools needed to fit.
I had to wait a month for the Carbon one as no one else in the UK had asked for a Carbon can to fit an '11.
Got my kid to record the exhaust on his iphone for your info.

Interesting - according to the Remus website it does (If I interpret what is written there correctly). If it doesn't then I guess we'll have to revert to the original for MOT purposes eventually.
Anyway, I've broken - I've ordered a Titanium slip on from Motorworks in Holmfirth.

I believe they moved the cat from the Y pipe to the can in these later models, hence the heat in the standard can, compared to the Remus which you can put your hand on.
