I have been looking for some different mirrors for the match the cafe-racer / street-fighter look of the roadster and i thought I might try bar end mirrors. I ended up finding some the shape I wanted from an Italian mob called Rizoma.

Bar end mirrors aren't everyone's cup of tea, but if you are interested here is a fairly easy way to mount them on an R.



The problem of course is the BMW bar weights mean that the mirrors won't go inside the bar and the taper on the weights means that the collar doesn't fit properly as an alternative mounting method without machining the bar weights....

Or so I thought at first.

The kit has two washer type things in it, one is aluminium and one is rubber, they are both the size of the outside diameter of the mirror collar. So good thus far. I removed the bar weight screw and found this bolt in my parts bin. It is a standard 6mm hex with a 35mm shank. I'm not sure where it came from but no doubt smarter folk than me will identify it immediately. I have attached a pic if anyone wants to have a crack at this.



- Put the end weight back in place.
- Put a very thin strip of anti-slip mat on the lowest point of the weight.
- Place the bar mirror collar over the weight, using the anti slip mat for added grip. (An O ring might also work.)
- Put the rubber "washer" against the end of the weight.
- Put the aluminium "washer agains the end of the weight
- Add a dab of anti seize to the 6mm bolt, slide it thought the washers and weights and tighten it all back up.

Rizoma Mirrors are 99 euros each (Youch !)

The one's I got are $40 a pair (including shipping!) At that price I am going to buy another set as spares. I bought them from eBay. If you can tell the difference you have go waaay better eyes than me, and the price difference is astounding. Everything except the 6mm stainless hex bolt came with the mirrors, and the bolts would not be screamingly expensive if you had to buy them.



If you decide you don't like them , take them off, put the original bar weight screws back on, and it has cost $40 and about 20 mins.

Do you have any problems with the mirrors staying put? Mine seem much too loose at the ball socket, even under acceleration in first gear they will fold backward. They look good but they don't stay put.

OK, mine have arrived and one was damaged in transit - glass gone and structurally damaged.

I've installed one on my Rockster and here are my observations:
1. I had M6 x 35mm already with the bar-end mirrors I have. Too short. So I've sourced some M6 x 50mm which are perfect
2. The supplied disks and rubber ring mean it is a perfect fit. No need for anything else to secure the mirror and stop it rotating.

The ebay seller is very good, they asked me only for pictures of the broken item and are dealing with it. I expect a good outcome....!



The one installed looks brilliant. I really like it.....let's not have me riding around with one old and one new too long, guys!!

Mine don't rotate on the bar, I've got them mounted the same as you fellas. Mine would rotate on the plastic ball socket. I was able to correct the issue with some super glue on the plastic ball socket. Now they don't budge.

Roxtr - I hadn't had any problem with them moving until I was on a highway ride. I had pulled off to check my phone and when it came time to pull back into the traffic I became a little overenthusiastic with the "fast handle" 6500 with every gear until 3rd. I have Lennie's sprockets on my bike and the experience was "invigorating"

I noticed the right hand side mirror had moved. More of an issue in Australia because the overtaking lane is on the right and you need to mirror and shoulder check thoroughly before pulling out.

I have found my first "problem" with Rocket sprockets. In Australia the speed limit on the open road is 100km/h, 110km and 140km/h depending upon where you are. In a 110zone it is common to cruise at 120. This is about 3800 rpm in top and with Lennies sprockets this has the same engine response as about 4500rpm with the old cogs. In other words it at the start of the "giddy up" zone. I kept wanting to crack it open, drop forward onto the tank and let her have some legs.

I am being factious of course it isn't really a problem unless I let my "idiot gland" run amok. It's actually really nice to have the oomph at hand when you need that little bit of go to step around someone.

What sort of fuel economy do you guys get on the highway. I wasn't babying the throttle and I ran about 5.2litres / 100km. Is that the sort of economy that's in the ball park or should I being looking at things?

Looks like I may have done you a disservice. The "owners" of Jumbo Depot have TRIPLED the price of those mirrors in the last month and a half.

I have sent them an email politely explaining that just because we ride bikes we aren't stupid, and yes we are able to remember 45 days in the past and see what the hell they are doing.

Just FYI triumph makes these exact mirrors. Quality is better than the knock offs but not as good as rizomas.

But i think you can get them straight from a triumph dealer for like 40 bucks a peice.

Incidentally i let a friend borrow one of these but im taking it back, so i bought a cheapo pair from canada off ebay for 25 bucks
and i will report how the quality on those is as well.

I did some talking with PJ and Paige from PJs Parts (Awesome site, very knowledgeable people and good communication, reccomended)

and after looking at some pics of the bar end mounting hardware on my bike they hooked me up with these

They come in next week so i will check back in and let you know how they work out. I didnt want to rig them up because i did
that on my last bike and i was constantly adjusting them. So bad that i went back to stem mirrors. And hence why i have a pair of these
reverse retros lying around.

Not quite true....I had a Street Triple R until I bought my R1150R.
Most of the electrical components ( speedo/tacho , lights) are made in China
albeit to a fairly high spec. Triumph manufacture hardly any of the
anciliary parts at all......even the tank and wheels are made in China! IIRC

A friend had a speedo fail out of warranty and Triumph wanted around £600
(c$925) for a replacement so I stripped it out and found it had a $10 circuit board with some
sad-looking soldered connections. The whole unit probably cost Triumph about £30!
I remade all of the soldered joints that I could and when it was fitted back to the bike it
worked fine and still does I believe!

arrived in a few days from CA to US for $25 total including shipping
they are exactly like the ones the OP posted. Quality is "Meh" finish on the triumph is gloss, finish on this is a rough
matte almost like a bed liner. But they look like they will do the job.

If you have the scratch the rizoms blue tinted mirrors are the best

OK, they supplied the replacement and it's installed. I would say quality is reasonable - perhaps agreeing with the above poster.

I like how they look and with the rubber washer where it is, there is no movement. The shape and finish of the mirror gives a good field of vision and reduces glare.

I like.

I added the JumboDepot bar ends to my 11R over the summer. I've had no problems with visible vibration but have had to snug both sides up once over the last thousand KM. Some removable Loctite would solve this issue pretty quick. I have mine flipped in and haven't had them move to 180 KM/h. Cleans up the look of the bike.

So, are they better ? / worse ?....or just different?

I switched from round to "K" model oval..huge improvement. But am curious about bar-ends.
