Seen in the wild - 3 July 2012 - Vermont state route 100

Post by Caol »

I don't know if you're a member here, but we crossed paths about 11am on VT-100. You were southbound and I was north bound in the company of a silver Honda ST-1300.

First time I've seen another R1200R Black w/pinstripes in the wild!

I also wear a Olympia Motosports Airglide 3 mesh jacket in the yellow/red (Toxic) colour scheme!

Good Roads!

Kyle,

I just came across your post. I have a black/pinstriped 07 R12R, and I often ride Rt. 100. I live in Proctor, and like to do the loop over Killington and back over Brandon Gap. I usually wear black leather jacket and black jeans, and both my helmets have hi-viz green stickers on the back. I'll keep an eye peeled for you!

Safe travels.

No, kid, I won't do a wheelie. I'd fall on my ass.

Hi Steve!

I'm back home in British Columbia now. Had a wonderful summer on the bike, including the zip through Vermont.

If you're ever in the region of 49.1N 116.5W give me a holler! I can at least buy you a coffee and maybe show you some fantastic mountain highways!

Hi Steve:
One of my favorite lifetime moments was Vt Route 100 during the (Woodstock) summer of 1969. 42 Years ago, on a used Honda 305 U bought for 300 bucks! What a great ride. Newfane to Burlington. Kids, chickens, and cows, with a lot of neat (slow speed) sights. A beautiful state.

Vermont is still as beautiful as you remember. The roads can be iffy - parts of Rt. 100 are pretty lumpy this year. But many of the small back roads have been repaved this summer, and there's a good chance you can find an idyllic valley with a perfect new strip of asphalt meandering along among streams, farms, and hills. Part of the fun of riding in Vermont is discovering these "perfect" roads, which, given the harsh climate, seldom last more than a few years.
