Heated grips fuse

Post by Obard »

What am I doing wrong? I have a 2002 r1150r abs, and I added a headlight modulator and the MotoTechniques handle bar risers. Since adding these accessories, my heated grips blow their fuse instantly upon turning them on. Worked fine before this, I think. I must have mucked something up, but I haven't found it yet? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

you have a short on the wire when it was pulled on to install your accessories. most likely it was the bar risers but you might disconnect the modulator first and see.

Did you cut the zip ties that hold the wiring harness tight around the steering head? Those ties are historically too tight and cause such a failure.

I cut the zip ties before installing the risers (per the install directions). What I didn't do was have someone hold the bars while I installed the risers (per the install directions). Darn things worked great before this. Argh! Thanks for the reply.
