In spite of the rain, we had a great time. I brought my son Joe, and Phil brought his son Chris. Brian also bought his son "Jack"!! The park is great, and the campsite was secluded and quiet. Hoping to make this a yearly event. Unfortunately, I didn't have a camera, but below is from GPS and is the ride we did Saturday. The high point was the "totally free car wash"..six bikes getting handwashed by a local church group!

Mark - the bike washing was one of the more cool things I have experienced. These people just wanted to bless regular folk by washing their vehicles and offering hot dogs and pop and wanted absolutely nothing in return. Praise Jesus!

Yeah, the rain was typical. I think next year we'll name it the 3rd annual Hungry Mother Rain Ride.

Anyway, as was said above I think we all had a good time despite the rain. The carwash was a nice thing to see in a small town. Too bad it wasn't college cheerleaders running a fund raiser.

I'm working on the pictures but have seemed to run into problems on my web server. Here's what I have uploaded so far:

Today for the ride home I tried to go back up rt16 to 42 and the fog was so thick, I could only see about 100 yards in front of me. Not fun. Then had to maneuver through endless NASCAR fans and their trailers/RV's. OVerall a good weekend. Now when's the next ride?

Hey! I made it home okay...me and Chris. We slabbed most of the way and made it home a lot faster than getting there on Friday.

I am really spent! I think it takes more out of one to ride two-up than alone. But we had fun! Chris is still complaining about his two-day loss of amenities, but when his brothers dropped by today, that's all he talked about. We sat down to dinner with one of his brothers and the brother's wife, as he started to tell about the trip. I quickly cut in and reminded him of the admonishment by Cam about, "what happens at the camp, stays at the camp". So he didn't divulge any secret handshakes or anything.

It was a very pleasurable weekend. Nice riding. Nice friends and mostly nice weather. Just a wee bit damp.

I took a few pictures but I still am having a problem with this cheapo camera and they turned out blurry. I'm forgetting to change the little button from "close-up" shots to "distance" shots. I'm afraid I've become a digital photographic disaster.

So I'm looking forward to John's pics too.

I don't have too much time to work on my server, so I gave in to Smugmug. Here are some of my pictures. I didn't take too many this time - sorry.

Atop Mount Rogers, Virginia's highest peak at approx. 5700 feet. I know, a bump compared to the Rockies. Nice and cloudy. More bikes out of line.

Sorry I missed you guys. We went through southern VA in the middle of the day on Saturday and figured y'all would be riding somewhere rather than being at base camp. We got to Asheville at the end of the day on Saturday.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in early October!
