Left cam chain tensioner upgrade.

Post by carl1957 »

Has anyone used the Rubber Chicken Racing upgrade kit for the left cam chain tensioner? http://rubberchickenracinggarage.com/chain.html It looks like a relatively simple installation.

83$ sounds high. Is that the going rate?

I've done a little reading, the one from BMW was around $200. $83 doesn't sound bad...

The Rubber Chicken tensioner was installed. No more rattle at idle. I've had good experience with beemerboneyard as well.
I used a bent paper clip to fish out the original, it went well. Took about a half hour.

I recently upgraded with the Rubber Chicken parts and, after realizing I didn't have a magnet, also used the bent paper clip method to remove the original. Install went well and the rattle is eliminated.
