Anyone upgraded our cheap looking stock mirrors to the chrome k1200 oval ones? How does it look? Pics? I was kinda thinking adding chrome mirrors, bar ends and brake/clutch levers to spruce her up a bit!

don't forget the leather tassles! :D

seriously, though, the K1200 mirrors are a worthwhile upgrade. You get a wider field of vision, and they look better. don't know about chrome, though

Look through the Great ride pics for Mike in the UK. http://www.r1150r.org/board/viewtopic.php?t=2822

His bike looks great with them...and I think they looks so much better than the K mirors...IMHO

exactly what i was picturing! I think those mirrors look good but not unless you go the full chrome route with the levers/bar ends/covers etc. I would make the entire change with that config personally otherwise they seem to stand out as nothing else around them are chrome! Thoughts?

Those look like the mirrors from the R12C.

I also changed to these mirrors and they give a larger field of view and i think look better than the stock "Mickey Mouse" ears.....I mean mirrors!
They sit lower and a sleeker and i think the chrome look suits the bike.

The mirrors in the pics are from the R1200 cruisers.
The part numbers you asked about are from the '93 and later K bikes.
Check the parts fiches at A&S BMW for the numbers:

Hi Ghostrider
This one keeps coming up. Have a look at the "WOW - Nice Mirrors" thread on Jan 11th.
I just fitted a pair of the chrome black cruiser mirrors (as in the photo) and I really like the expanded field of view, much better.
Had some trouble getting the bushes (adaptor sleeves) and thanks to Marko in Melbourne finally tracked them down.
From my paperwork the chrome cruiser mirrors are pn 71607658937 and the sleeves to adapt them to the R1150R are pn 51162328422.

Thanks. I got my part #s from a post sometime back by Dallara...the one with the compilation of various part #s and substitute part #s, etc. etc. (very helpful by the way).

I would have thought that the R1200C mirrors would be a direct bolt on to the R1150R. The price is see on part #51162328422 is $.80 so no big deal.

I ordered a pair of K1100S mirrors from Chicago BMW recently for $40 each. I'm anxiously awaiting their arrival - they were out of stock.

I just got the later K1200RS mirrors from Chicago BMW. Wow, what a difference!! An excellent mod... I highly recommend it as one to do in the first five to ten mods (along with most of Kisan's lighting enhancements and driving lights).
