Post by vintagecycle »

Took a ride up to A&S to check out the show on Saturday. Bigger turnout than last year, some really cool bikes in attendance.
Where was PAT????

Okaaaay, now I'm sorry I didn't make it. I wanted to, I tried, but there was all this JD & Coke to do in Knight's Ferry, and then there was that little Italian gal serving us our Guinness on the way home.

I made my way to an event that supported a museum playing host to the "longest covered bridge west of the Mississippi." They opened it for us to ride across, whereupon we cut off from the group to catch a drink or three in Oakdale.

The following day (after A&S' Vintage Bike Show), I sported my retro half-helmet & goggles for a spin down the river road. Imagine my surprise when I rounded into town at Al the Wop's, only to see a couple dozen Nortons, old (Cherry) Triumphs, a BMW, and a '93 Norton Wankel! In fact, many of the very same bikes Dan took pictures of at A&S were participating in a River Run put on by the Northern California Norton Owners Club (NortonClub.com).

I wish I had a camera with me, instead I had my phone with it's wannabe "camera". You might be able to make out my Bonnie' amidst a sea of snorton Nortons at the Ryde Hotel:

Egads! You probably got to hear a bunch of them running! Sweet music to the ears indeed.

I did get to hear the Kawasaki triples running, as everyone kept asking the dude to fire up the H2.

Dan,

That's what I was waiting (anxiously) for, to hear 'em fire up!!!!
- BUT -
Seems they were all stock exhausts??????

The only bike that sounded cool was an old Bonnie'.....

My D&D equipped 800cc BlackBonnie sounded better/louder than the whold gaggle of quiet/stock exhausts on the Nortons.... GO FIGURE???!???

Dan,

Great pictures. Must have been quite an event. There are some really choice pieces stuck in there in those pictures. And way expensive too. Thanks for posting these.

Glad you guys enjoyed the pictures! I love vintage bikes..(as if you couldn't tell from my screen name)

Pat, quiet??? You mean no "snortin' Nortons"??? I thought things were loud back in the day.....sissys! Shouldn't they have Dunstall and Toga pipes installed?
I gotta hear your bike. Have any sound clips uploaded yet?

Oooh BOY, do I have clips!

I have a DVD of my bike and I on Hwy 36 as a result of a video camera mounted to Rich's K1200R. In addition to hearing my D&D pipes, you can hear Rich's Laser Tech can on his BeemerTechno-K.

Rich and I sent some footage in to SportBikeCam.com in the hopes of winning some big bucks for our contributions.

Oh yeah, I got clips of the little D&D's.......
