Brake Failure light ?

Post by Blitz »

Bike has been sitting for a bit with the battery tender to keep the juice, I fired it up today and the "Brake Failure" light was flashing. Anyone know why this would happen when it was not occurring before I parked it? Is it just a reset thing or ?? I'm puzzled. ( Oh yes, it has ABS)

brake fault flash

Post by jimcameron »

Not to state the obvious, but does the light continue to flash after you have ridden off, or just after you start the bike?? I'd guess that if you ride off and it continues to flash your battery is due for replacement. Is the 04 equiped with a gel battery? Are you using a gel-battery compatable charger?

Brake Failure Light

You should check the owners manual, the brake failure light flashing can mean several things, everything from a brunt out bulb to low fluid. Which of the two lights which is flashing and the rate of flash (fast or slow) will indicate the fault code. Mine will indicate low fluid in the control unit when parked on the side stand on a downhill slant. Dealer has checked and said it is fine??
