What Have YOU Been Up to?

Post by Boxer »

The R1150R in its naked form is the perfect all-around bike for many riding pleasures. However, with just a few changes or upgrades it can be converted to a great touring machine, able sport bike, or even a sexy cruising machine.

It’s very interesting to me to see how people have changed the bike up or added things on to make it their own unique ride for their own special purposes while maintaining the basic look of the Roadster with the cool tank and oil cooler lines flowing back along the side panels.

What I’d like to start with this thread is an album of bikes. Let’s see your steed (with you if possible) and a brief list of things you’ve done to make it “different”, especially this past winter season.

There are a lot of new people here and I have no idea who most of you are or how your bike looks, so get the dust blown off that trusty camera and let’s see a piccie and an explanation of what you’ve been up to this winter to get ready for a great 2006 riding season!

To start it off, in addition to routine 48K maintenance I have been busy adding some new driving lights, fuse block under the seat and reflectors to the bags. Plus I finally cleaned my windshield! I just recently pulled off the starter (a work in progress) and have cleaned that out to try to rid it off the dreaded screeching at cold start-up. Other than that, my baby will be running with fresh fluids and some Seafoam in the tank. A new rear tire will soon be needed but I’m not one to get a new tire unless I see the threads bare on the current one.:-)

Here I am with my bike last week in San Angelo Texas, sans the bags and the new lights.
Not much to tell. Your basic black beast….Not me, the bike.

spring trim

Post by wncbmw »

Last weekend, I made the transition from winter trim (sport shield and handguards) to the more sleek look of the black painted speedster screen and no handguards. I like the look, espcially with the K12 mirrors.

Hi

Image
Givi sports fairing.
BMW Cruiser mirrors (much wider field of view- big improvement)
Wunderlich tank pads
Wunderlich bag on rack
Lite Buddy LED blocks in clear indicators - red to rear amber to front as running lights
Lite Blazer additional LED brake and tail lights in number plate bracket.
Lowered footpegs from Nippy Normans in UK - half the price of the similar Wunderlich kits.(helps my knees and hips as I am not getting any younger)
Plus Sargent seat, not fitted yet but due any day now.
Tamperproof Wunderlich oil filler cap (better than the plastic plug standard)
Reflector tap to systems cases.
Thats about it so far.
