Swapping Front Wheel Fenders

Post by Kirk »

Ok, I really like my 1150R and for the most part like the styling as well but I do have a bone to pick with that front wheel fender. Has anyone noticed that if you turn the handlebars to the left and look at the bike on the right side, it looks like a mullet. That's right the notoriously ugly 80's hard rock hair style - big puffy front section and the funny looking thin tail running down the back. I guess it's safe to say I'm not too fond of the design and, with this lengthy introduction, was wondering if anyone knew if the R1150R and R1150R Rockster front wheel fender are directly interchangable without any mods or possibly even with some modification. If so I'm strongly considering doing that. So if you can swap those pieces, and/or someone has one they'd like to sell me, please let me know. Please also post up if someone knows for sure this cannot be done. I would also consider the front fender from the RT as well. Again if anyone knows if this will or will not work, please post or pm me. Thanks.

bye bye beak

Post by bubbleman21 »

hi. i recently purchased an r1100r front fender from beemerboneyard.com to replace the cursed beak. it is a perfect fit. the only part i had to work at was the center screw that goes in from the bottom of the fender. first jack the bike about a foot. then, pull the front axle to drop the tire enough to access the screw. i did not have to remove the brake calipers. anyway, i am extremely please with the new appearance of my bike. i want to slap the person who approved a beak on bike. peace

Dr. 90210.....

I've got to put in my 2 cents worth.....changing the beak on the R is like marrying Streisand and then asking her to get a nose job.

Nope.

The Rockster/R1100S front fender is not a direct swap with the R1150R. Different forks, different mounting points.

There was a thread on this a few years (?) ago.

i will be more than happy to post pics if i could figure out how. my computer is about as quirky as that beak was. & for the record, i would not tell babs to get a nose job. i'm patient with women. but then, you have to be.

Yeah. That pic reminds me of the joke about the Chinese kid that was circumcised by a Japanese sushi cook.

And another thing. I can't believe my bike was ever that clean. Can they really be brought back to that level of hygiene.

Nope. Not unless you don't plan on riding it anymore. That's why I got the blacked out motor, less cleaning...well will not look like it needs to be cleaned as often.

R beak

Post by disonny »

Hello all. I have an 02R. I hated the front fender when I bought the bike, but loved the rest of it. WHile I was shopping for a bike I looked and saw that some of the front fenders from other bikes mounted the same as the R. I bought a fender for a R1150RS and put it on.I have pictures at home that I can post later. It still has somewhat of a beak, but much less than stock. I like it way better, but thats my taste.
