Uneven tire wear

I have 29k on my 02. I bought it lightly used with 1711 miles on it. From that day to now the front sneaker has worn more on left side of center than on right. The bike handles fine, but it does dive better into a left than a right. I can tighten the wrist rest and ride with no hands, so it seems like the bike feels nuetral and balanced while riding. Any thoughts?

My only thought is to question how this message board has a direct neural link to my head. I was looking at my tires last night thinking I needed to ask about the uneven tire wear.

I've noticed the same wear on my last few sets of tires. At first I was attributing it to the removal of my muffler (making the bike a little off balance?), but seeing how so many others have seen the same thing, I doubt that's the problem.

I've seen it on Avon and Metzeler tires so it's not the brand. I've heard that it's from the 'crown' in the road, or the way the road tilts for water drainage and that kind of makes sence. We'll see if anyone chimes in with a better explanation.

While it may show on most tires, it is certainly better on some than others. My Macadam 90 Michelins were terrible as well as Bridgestone 020's. The Michelin Pilot Roads were pretty good and so far my Avons 46's? have been very good with about 6,000 miles. I believe that correct tire pressures helps too with the front running at about 38 psi on my RT.

I think you will find it has a lot to do with the camber of the road, as mine wears on the RH side.
As we ride on the LH side of the road, and you ride on the RH side, I believe this has a fair bit to do with it.
Maybe other issues including tyre pressures( i run 34psi in the front), but my tyre has 12,000ks on it, and a lot more left, so I tend to point to the 1st comment I made.

Camber wear is a fact of life--if you ride on what you from the US would refer to as two-lane blacktop, you will wear on the side closest to the centreline, due to the drainage camber falling away to the edge. Probably won't get it much on your flat, multi-lane interstates. As most of our roads in Australia away from the cities are simple two-lanes, we always get this wear( on the right side) as Johno says.
