The 5th 6th neutral is not uncommon. This shifter and the throttle take a little 'dance' when getting up there near redline to positively engage the dogs. Try a 1/2 clutch pull, a positive pre-load of the shifter and a firm lift with the toe when getting it on.

i very highly reccomend the redline. the front end is really, really hard to lift, even in first gear. give it some gas. it will run better if you push it now and again.
I was dreaming when I wrote this, forgive me if it goes astray...
