Lucky bastard. Anyways, he slipped his daily rider, a black 2002 R1150R into the collection. I couldn't believe the attention it got, next to Indians from 1911 and championship winning Ducati's.
Interesting considering his garage, that his bike of choice is ours.
BTW, few bikes were ignored more than the new R1200R at the BM booth...though I think it's more handsome in person.
I agree the R 1200 R is more attractive in person but I still have issues with it. I like the idea of the whizzy stabilization system, the quiet non whining ABS and the onboard computer.....some of the things we admire about the GS....
But c'mon, where is the classic beauty of our brushed and chrome instument panel....The artistic lines or our paralever suspension ???
argh! and I know, I am opening a whole can of worms here that has been opened before but I LOVE MY BEAK.

I like everything about the R1200R except the way too high MSRP, plus, the centerstand and heated grips being over $300 additional !! It's leaner looking, lighter, more powerful, more efficient, very Hi-Tech, more modern looking and much much easier to service.
Because of the very high cost to upgrade from my 2002, I'll be keeping my golden 1150R for many years to come.

There was one at Mailline BMW in SE PA a month or two ago. I sat on it, but didn't take it for a ride. I can't afford to buy one, and I suspect if I ride one, I'll have to own it.
