Odyssey battery install

Post by ddriggs »

I installed my new Odyssey PC680 battery last night and it took a lot longer than it should have. Rather than completely remove the tank, I just removed all the fasteners and propped it up with a piece of 2x4 (I didn't want to mess with the fuel-line disconnects). I also installed the optional $5.00 L-shaped terminals on the battery.

After installing the battery, I could not get the tank back on. After about 20 min of fiddling with it, I realized the terminals were too high and were hitting the underside of the tank. I had to remove the L terminals and bolt the battery cables directly to the battery. It worked, but there's not a lot of slack in those battery cables.

Anyone else experience this?

I had the exact same experience earlier this week. I ended up not using the L-brackets and flattened out my battery connectors and secured them directly to the battery. It worked fine with no problems. Maybe the optional L-brackets have changed in size from one's sold earlier?
