Re: R1150R BMW Integral ABS 1 (iABS1) Removal

I thought the non abs version might have a machined face for the crush washer but since you have had no issues it's crush washer time!
Thanks

Re: R1150R BMW Integral ABS 1 (iABS1) Removal

Thanks for the update. I might have to take the rear off again anyway to put the old switch on because I can't get the rear hose to seal on the master. There are 2 part numbers for the rear master. We're using a banjo bolt where a hard line used to be so I wonder if that would be the difference. But...

Re: R1150R ABS-ectomy

The Front brake light SWITCH is mounted the other way around in the circuitry on ABS bike as opposed to non-ABS. IE on the ABS bikes the switch is CLOSED (ie it MAKES a circuit) when the brakes are OFF. Burner, Agreed - very important difference between the ABS and non- R1150* bikes. But I think I'...

Re: Original equipment QD removal

Cut the hoses off carefully and replace them with new fuel injected rated hose. 5/16 inch size.
The barbed fittings are telling you that it's time for new hoses!
Enjoy

How about another ABS thread!

Oh the joy. Get your thinking caps on for this one. Here's my story. Original servo was pronounced dead. Broken electrical pin so the only way it would come to life would be if I pushed down on the electrical harness (plug) when I turned the key. Even then only the front brake circuit would work pro...

Re: stuck oil filter - how to fix

The filter was probably overtightened the last time.
Never fails! Use something on the new filter gasket to keep it from seizing again.
We use Dow Corning #4 (DC4) dielectric grease on the filters before installing.
Mmm Mmm good!

Re: Newbie checking in

If the bike has been sitting for a few years take a look at the service history.
That will help you determine what needs attention.

There is a schematic sticker that shows the routing of the lines stuck to the bike under the seat.

Hi LA, I know this has been a while but I'm having the same problem you had with my Rockster and am planning on cleaning out the old fuel I had in it all winter coming weekend. I have quick connects installed so this should be easy [It rode perfect all last season no problems, apart from my cheap c...

It's that way by design. It's a CAT. That's why it's so heavy.

It's a long shot but could your rear sub frame be bent?
The tab for the muffler should be perpendicular to the ground.

ABS servo not actuating at all now!

I just did the ABS flush. 2002 R1150R. (have done this many times). Now the servo is DOA. Sometimes it would work on the front brakes and not the back, now it won't come on at all. I think it's the harness or something. Arghhh!

Re: TO Retorque or NOT to retorque

When you loosen each nut (and the 10mm hexhead) individually, oil the threads I'm not sure about that, Rob. Shouldn't they be torqued DRY (but obviously free to rotate easily). On the subject of torquing the head bolts, I would simply back-off each one in turn; make sure it is free to turn easily, ...
