I'm 6'5 with a 34 inseam, and the stock tall seat works for me. I also have a Corbin I bought through eBay. As you can see, it's quite low. Originally, I put a peg lowering kit on the bike, along with the tall seat, but that made it impossible to get the centerstand down with my foot b/c it eliminat...

Bleeding ABS Brakes
The Clymer Manual says that bleeding ABS brakes MUST be performed at the dealership as it is IMPOSSIBLE to remove all the air from the system without the BMW power brake bleeding tool. Yay or nay, people?
Can this be done, as teh R1100 docs suggest, with a Mityvac and great care?

RPMs
When I bought my R, I dutifully followed the manual's advice about not letting the revs rise (much) above 4000 for the break-in period. Then I noted plenty of ride-it-like-you-stole-it advice on this board, and because I wanted the valves to seat correctly, etc., I dutifully road pushed the bike har...

Throttle Slack
Over the last year, there has developed a 1/4-inch or more of slack in the turn of the throttle on my bike. This leads to a moment of lag and has become annoying. Is there an easy way to take up the slack, or is this sort of "cable stretch" to be expected?

My experience is the same as Big Papa's. I was 305 w/o gear when I bought the bike a little more than a year ago. Have done lots of max-load 2-up touring and put 10k miles on the bike with no suspension problems. (For what it's worth: I have also lost 55 pounds since last August, and when I broke th...

Sad News
It's strange to think that a common interest in a certain motorcycle can provide the basis to communicate something essential about oursleves, even though most of us may never "meet" in the flesh and blood sense. I certainly had a sense of Yahoo-Boy and was shocked to read the news. We are...

Summer Gloves
I bought a pair of Icon Tarmac Gloves a month ago. Love 'em. Comfortable, cool when it's hot, with lots of protective features. Nice price, too.

Introduction
My name's Jay. I live on Vancouver Island, off the West Coast of Canada -- a land of twsities! I rode dirt bikes as a teenager, then blah blah blah. For the last couple of years, I've been looking at bikes. Finally took a couple of safety courses and bought a bike. I'd been interested in a cruiser, ...
